Could it be anxiety? Or do I need to up my dosage?

Question:

<snipped I’m on the same dosage of prozac I’ve been on since a little kid, and may need a dosage. I know the dosage worked a couple of months ago, but it’s obviously not working now, if this is anxiety. I can’t think of this being anything else BUT anxiety. I don’t smoke, drink, or do drugs. I eat healthy, and I exercise every day. Any thoughts?

Hi :) I think you need to tell your doctor about these symptoms you are having. It could be anxiety, but you need to have a thorough checkup to rule out any physical disorder that could be causing these symptoms. What kind of doctor is treating your depression and anxiety? Hopefully it is a psych doctor, if not…….then you should look into seeing one for your depression and anxiety. If you are seeing one already, make sure to let him know what you have been experiencing lately. If it is determined that your symptoms are anxiety related, then maybe increasing your Prozac or switching to another med or even adding another med might help. I also suggest getting cognitive behavioral therapy…….would not only help your anxiety but depression as well. I’m 17, and I’ve was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder when I was 14. I’ve also had bouts with depression since third grade. I’ve taken almost every big "name brand" there is as far as anxiety and depression is concerned, but it all comes back to prozac.      I’ve taken prozac for my depression, and it worked for me really well. When I was diagnosed with anxiety, my doctor tried to change my medicine to suit it for anxiety, but we ended up switching it back to prozac, and my problems with anxiety and depression have been  pretty much non-existant since. I’ve been fine, and I’ve been positive, and self motivated. But a couple of months ago, I started to feel a lump  in my throat. I was concerned about it (thought it may have been allergy  related – felt like my uvula was stuck in the back of my throat), so I went to the doctor, who prescribed a antibiotic for it. It went away, but just recently  came back again a month ago. I also have feelings of fullness in the chest and heart palpitations that are pretty noticable during some times of the day. And now, I’m starting to think it’s from anxiety. I don’t worry about anything, and I don’t have any real problems to worry about. So this really baffles me. I don’t feel  anxious at all, yet I have a history of anxiety and all these physical symptoms. And usually, if I do have problems, I don’t give them a second thought and  just get through them with a positive attitude.     So far, this hasn’t really suceeded in keeping me down and depressed yet, but I’m afraid  they will eventually, since anxiety did in the past. The only difference now is that I have physical  symptoms along with my anxiety. I think this may have stemmed from the fact I’m on the same dosage  of prozac I’ve been on since a little kid, and may need a dosage. I know the dosage worked a couple of months ago, but it’s obviously not working now, if this is anxiety. I can’t think of this being anything else BUT anxiety. I don’t smoke, drink, or do drugs. I eat healthy, and I exercise every day. Any thoughts?
