GAD Help Please!!
Question:
Generalized Anxiety Disorder I just figured out I’ve been suffering from this for as long as I can remember. I did not know others also suffered from this – I thought I was the only one. It has just about ruined my marriage and it affects every moment of my life. Is there hope for getting rid of this? I’ve tried relaxation but its just does not do it. I’ll do anything to get rid of this. What are others experiences with treatment for this? Talk, Meds, etc. thanks, dave
Hi Dave, Welcome to ASAP. There is alot of help for GAD, but you need to go to the doctor. I suggest that you get a good checkup from your MD. Sometimes symptoms of anxiety can be caused by something physical. If everything checks out okay, then you need to see a psych doctor. GAD can be treated with meds and/or therapy. You don`t have to suffer like this. Here is a hyperlink to a great anxiety website, click on GAD and there is alot of info. Take care. http://panicdisorder.about.com/index.htm?COB=home&PID=2791 Jackie

Yes, there is hope…at least for some and, maybe, a lot of symptom control. For me, meds are the only thing that work. I take Luvox…currently 50mg/day, but have been everywhere on the scale from 25mg-200mg/day. It’s totally changed my life for the better. And, "as needed," I take Ativan for extreme episodes of anxiety (now few and far between) or when I can’t sleep. Hang in there! Cate
