Margrove Is An Exception
Question:
(Do I have alzheimers?
no you don’t as far as I can tell. I haven’t seen your other post on insensitive docs-thank you for the accolades if they continue I won’t be able to get my head through my sweaters it will be too big. Thank you all for your compliments and your support of me. I am here for you guys. When I went through my own anxiety disorder there was no one for me and I remember the feeling of being alone and so utterly confused and baffled. I went on a quest for help and went through the most unbelievable pile of bullshit that surviving my therapies alone was a feat of amazement. My quest took me through the halls of education on many levels and through all of it I maintain the precept that the patient comes first. If my goals are to help others then whatever it takes within the bounds of human ability shall be used to do so. I have not forgotten my own experiences and will do all I can to limit others from doing so if possible. There is great misunderstanding in the world of medicine and many who have chosen these careers have done so for the wrong reason. Psychiatry is not like neurosurgery nor is it like internal medicine-so it may attract those who find it an easy road to a comfortable lifestyle. This is unfortunate. But yet there are many very dedicated and worthwhile doctors in the world. As an informed consumer you have the right to interview them! to Find one. Being your own therapist and your own source of comfort and help is the ultimate goal-the therapist or doctor your guide teacher and perhaps mentor. When this relationship is obscured and blured then the goals change and it doesn’t serve the patient’s best interest. Once a therapist told me that if I lived in his home I wouldn’t have an anxiety problem-(in his instance I would have had other probelms as well as he was about as screwed up as they get) but he had a point-and I have ascribed to that construct since-if you are sourounded by rational models and a continuous discourse of rational thinking an ongoing level of unconditional support and the impression that any risk you take will be supported by one who is willing to take action on your behalf then the chances of getting better increase. It does. Most docs think that this is too time consuming less then appropriate professionaly and not cost effective. I disagree. I have proven it over and over. I appreciate your perspective understand your complaints and can comiserate with you-I have been to many doctors for many ills that were treated less then professionally and improperly handled. It’;s par for the course in human nature best regards and wishes for a healthy new year to all!

I didn’t take the gender bending as a negative-some of the finest people I know are women and if they ran this country it may be a better place to be in. I completely agree…Margrove is a *wonderful* asset to this group, and has helped me many, many times…..another angel on earth….and, I once said the same thing..I am somewhat anti-pdoc, but if Margrove lived near me, I would see him in a flash. The time you give here is very much appreciated Margrove!!! I only wish you lived in Alabama so you could be my doctor. I hope you realize that it goes without saying that you are a true exception to the complaints I’ve made regarding doctors. Your information, warmth of heart, experience, you your self are very appreciated. You have given intelligent, extremely well informed information to myself and others with a compassion that is rare in most humans (not just doctors). I consider you a very special person and a very, very important part of this group. There is no one quite like you. As I thought of my doctor bashing, (which in my experience is valid), and then remembered you, I just had to make it clear that you are the exception, and I’m sure there are others like you, I just wish they lived in Alabama! I hope you didn’t feel insulted, since you are nothing at all like what I described in my complaint. It just hit me in my paranoia that I may have insulted you, and you might have felt I did a bit too much labeling. Perhaps I did, out of frustration, but you certainly NOT included in the "insensitive doctor label". I do hope you knew that. but, if not, remember our correspondence. I was so impressed with your knowledge of many areas. And I also know you have personal experience with PA yourself (I’m not sure that’s the right label, gotta be careful with those labels I realize now). But, anyway… I need your continued support, and I assure you that none of my comments have anything to do with someone like you who has integrity, experience, just so much to offer, and who offers it freely in a spirit of compassion. Please forgive me for lumping all doctors together. That was untrue, and unfair. This weighed heavily on me, so I HAD to write to hopefully right any wrong I may have done. IF YOU ARE NOT A DOCTOR: Nevermind… (as Gilda Radner always said after her incorrectly interpreted news editorials on SNL). ALSO: If you aren’t a doctor you should be. (Do I have alzheimers?) Love, Parker and once again – sooooo glad you’re here. Your advice has been invaluable to me and I have many of your posts and observations saved. : )

I totally agree….LM/Margrove and Dr. Shipko are both perfect examples of what our doctors should be…their dedication goes above & beyond the call of duty – if the rest of the profession had such high standards we’d have all the mysteries of PD solved by now
Thanks again Margrove, and Dr. Shipko
