OCD & Hypnotism
Question:
Subject: Hypnotism & OCD. I have a friend, a teacher, in the NYC Rockland area who has obsessive compulsive disorder. She is under the care of a psychiatrist and takes medication. Her symptoms include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Buying: She constantly buys things she doesn’t need. 2. Hoarding: She hardly ever throws anything out. Does anyone know if these symptoms respond to hypnosis?? Can you recommend any good books or other resources on the subject??? thanks, FRED

If your friend has OCD the best treatment is a combination of medication and behavior therapy. This disorder doesnt respond well to hypnosis in most cases. There are a number of excelent books on OCD but the one I recomend most often is Getting Control by L. Baer.
