6 Year Old Needs Your Help
Question:
I met a Chicago family who is trying to get money together to bring their son to an OCD center in Seattle. They really can’t afford this trip… they’re considering a 2nd mortgage to do it. I seem to remember hearing about a good OCD treatment center (inpatient) in Wisconsin. Can anyone help me out here? Thanks! – Valerie

I believe there is a place in WI (or very near). If you search the web under OCD I’m sure you will find something closer to Chicago than Seattle (!). My son has OCD and we have been able to keep it under wraps for the most part by going to a psychologist who specializes in working with children. I’m not sure why you need to find an inpatient clinic. I think lots of help can be gained from a once a week visit to a good specialist. I wish good luck to you and the little boy. Hi Valerie, Try the University of Wisconsin at Madison. They have a very good psych department and should be able to advise you about nearby facilities if they cannot help directly. Ian

There is an excellent Anxiety Disorders Center here in Madison, WI that is affiliated with the University of Wisconsin. I can get you info. if you would like. It is where I go for treatment. Regards, Jen
