Anafranil vs. Luvox
Question:
I have been taking Anafranil for the past 10 years for OCD and have been wondering if I should switch to Luvox. The reasons are: 1. Can’t stand the side effects (constipation, minor seizures, weight gain, excessive sweating) 2. Feel that it has been successful in reducing the depression but I seem very excitable 3. I still feel some destructive behavior and constantly need to center things which causes me a lot of anxiety. Has anyone made a switch from Anafranil to Luvox? What are the side effects? Has it been more effective than anafranil? Does it cause anxiety? Weight gain? Any info would be very helpful! Thanks!

Hello. I switched from anafranil to prozac four years ago. The difference was … unbelievable. The side effects were so much less distressing and for me, the ssri worked MUCH better. It is definately something for you and your doctor to consider! Take care! Discuss such a change with your doctor. Luvox like every medication has side effects but is less likely to cause problems like seizures then Anafranil. There are other drugs that could also be tried like Paxil, Prozac and Zoloft. If you have not tried it consider cognitive behavioral treatment. It helps some people do well with out the need for drugs at all and helps others get more relief then from drugs alone. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Karen wrote: > I have been taking Anafranil for the past 10 years for OCD and have been > wondering if I should switch to Luvox. I can’t believe you are taking a drug that cause you minor seizures. Switch immediately. You’ve got nothing to lose ,at least you won’t get seizure. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Karen wrote in message <35538557.24DF5…@nb.net>… >I have been taking Anafranil for the past 10 years for OCD and have been >wondering if I should switch to Luvox.
