Extremely worried when drinking ALCOHOL!
Question:
Im 32, male and have had OCD my whole life. Been on LUVOX for 5 years with minimal results. I have now been off meds since last September. I do take alot of diet pills with MaWaung and Effedrine. My OCD is 25% Compulsions and 75% Obsessions. My obsessions are worries and they are of the violent nature. I worry about harming friends, family and strangers. I am not a DRINKER in the since that I sit home and drink. I am a social drinker who drinks a few beers at a club and stops and I dont go to clubs every night, just a couple times a month or so. I am usually very responcible when it comes to drinking if im going to be driving. My problem is the other night I went on a date with a gal I just met a few weeks prior and we were at a bar drinking and talking. Like alot of people, when I drink I feel more comfortable in public and can loosen up better when on a date. I told her I was not going to drink much because I have to drive home. She then said "if you drink too much you can crash at my place". Of coarse I said "YIPPEEE" and began drinking alot. When the place closed I let her drive me to her house and I spent the night. Im just wondering why when I do cut loose and drink to excess I get extra paranoid and worried the next day? Im not always quite sure what im worrying about but there is always this worry of "did I do something bad to her, did I have sex with her unprotected and now she could get pregnant"? Since Jail and Having Children are some of my worst fears, this is a problem. My questions are: Does anyone know if it is only people with OCD or mental illnesses that get paranoid/worried/anxiety the day after they were drinking or is that normal for everybody? If I did do something extremely bad do you think I would know it even though I was drinking alot and cant remember? Would it be in bad taste to ask her "if we did anything together" since im worried about pregnancy? Thanks for reading this and im sorry it was so long!

Hey Rockn, I suggest you stop the mahuang and anything else with ephedrine. That can make you more paranoid not to mention just bad for your heart. Don’t want to worry you more, but others will perceive you as being nervous when you are taking it, just because of the shaking. Do you take ephedrine when you are going to be drinking? You may need the drink less without the ephedrine. Its an amazing experience to be in a club when your straight and everyone else isn’t. I would hate to think you had sex and couldn’t remember it. Of course, along with you, I also hope it wasn’t unprotected. Average(normal) folks might wonder what they had done during heavy drinking, OCDers would worry to excess. Go ahead and ask her, she shouldn’t mind. Jorge

I think anybody would wonder about what happened when they were blitzed on beer (or whatever) but the *doubt* of not knowing exactly what happen is OCD food. People without OCD can just say ‘oh well’ and put the wondering out of their minds. People with OCD may not be able to do that so easily, if at all, and so the doubt lingers … and festers. > If I did do something extremely bad do you think I would know it even though > I was drinking alot and cant remember?
I don’t know. > Would it be in bad taste to ask her "if we did anything together" since im > worried about pregnancy?
Assumming I read your post right, she was not drunk right? Meaning she was hopefully ‘with it’ enough not to do anything to cause a pregnancy. Is it ‘bad taste’ to ask her? Hmm, depends on how she perceived the evening. I mean she might know that you were pissed and that you might not remember and completely understand you asking or she might have had a great night and be angry that you didn’t remember all that or any number of scenarios. The label of ‘bad taste’ or not will be decided by your friend I suppose. — monkey

i don’t think this is uncommon – i have BIG problems with drinking and OCD…not so much with the sex thing, but in other ways..for instance, if I ever am drinking, and the girl is drinking, and anything happens, I always assume I was acting evil, she was too drunk, I took advantage, &c. Unless you are known to black-out when you drink, I would not ask her. Probably what happened was that the thought occured to you – ‘hey, did we have sex last night unprotected?’ and yr brain said ‘of course not’, and then the question came again, until that non-doubt became a real doubt, and you know how this bullshit works.
