Halloween Depression

Question:

Do you remember how disappointing it was the first Halloween that you didn’t do anything. I’m too old to be going trick or treating, too young to have a wild Halloween party. So what am I supposed to do? I also live in a place that doesn’t really celebrate Halloween. I’m also sick. The closest I’ll get to Halloween spirit is watching Hocus Pocus. Yeeha Rachel

The idea of a place that doesn’t celebrate Halloween is so strange it’s scarier than Halloween itself! What’s going on behind those lace curtains? — simon —

No offense to my British friends out there, but I asked an English friend a long time ago why they didn’t celebrate Halloween, and he said because England is a very superstitious country and alot of people there have alot of "Ghost stories" to tell. -kbeth

We do celebrate Halloween! It’s Scottish. We have Halloween parties like anywhere else, with pumpkins and witches and so on. But the loathsome practice of ‘trick or treating’ is new, an import from the US that got established in the 1980s. Whether Britain is a more superstitious country than others is an interesting question. I doubt it, because we are so urban. But it’s true that most people seem to have a ghost story to tell. No Brit wrote better ones than Edgar Allen Poe though. Which makes this post on topic because he is said to have suffered from OCD. Then again I suppose his stories aren’t exactly ghost stories. So I’m talking complete rubbish. — simon —

Hi, I’m depressed this Halloween, too, because this is the first year my 14 yr old son, David, did not trick-or-treat.  Too old he says.  But I can tell he misses those big bags of candy that last at least 6 months!  And I miss going with him….it was such a lot of fun! Well, you could always become a pagan. I hear they always have weird goings on year round. Although, as in any religion you tend to have people who get too full of themselves and spoil the fun. Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
