Yes, I have had a situation like that. I have the "pure obsessional" type of OCD.It took me many years to get to that diagnosis, which, by the way, fits well. When I was in my early twenties, I was seeing an outpatient counselor and I saw a paper on her desk referring to me as a schizophrenic. In the early nineties, I saw a psychologist who declared that I had "schizo-typal" thoughts. In 1994, I was seeing another psychologist who diagnosed me correctly, and my life has improved 200 percent since that diagnosis, behavioral therapy, and Zoloft. I think it is common for OCDers to be misdiagnosed, especially years ago, when there was relatively little knowledge about OCD.

Tell me about it. I wonder sometimes if my OCD is really just some kind of coverup for something more deeply wrong. "Lain" <l…@wired.net> wrote in message

I wonder if anyone here have been wronfully diagnoses with schizophrenia or other thought disorder, because they seem to lack insight to their ocd obsessions. Ive experienced this several times, but I think I only have ocd, since I for instance never heard woices. I used to talk to myself outloud but that was more of a defence to distance myself from instrusive sickening thoughts. Anyone got any experience with this?
