Marijuana isn't evil/ intolerance and ignorance is

Question:

Mr. J, I think the usual assumption in studies about the use of marijuana is that its used too excess if used at all.   A minimal amount of marijuana smoked at the end of the day, as one would have a couple of beers or glasses of wine, is some how believed impossible by non-users. I have not smoked for years for all the negative reasons you cited.  I have no doubt that my ocd took its big turn for the worse at ceasing the marijuana.   Moderation is probably the overlooked key when marijuana is studied or discussed. Hi Lisa, Although I don’t smoke pot (I get the munchies reeeeal bad) I totally agree with you. I do like having a beer or two at the end of my day when I’m done studying or whatever. It is a pleasurable and relaxing thing for me. I can understand the appeal of a few tokes at the end of the day. > I have not smoked for years for all the negative reasons you cited.  I have no > doubt that my ocd took its big turn for the worse at ceasing the marijuana. > Moderation is probably the overlooked key when marijuana is studied or > discussed.

I went to see a doctor  for depression and in listening to my self described symptoms he offered that I seemed to follow the pattern of OCD;  his first prescription was for Prozac and I found out quickly that I was unwilling to accept the side effects and took myself off.  Luvox is what I am currently taking (just about a month now) and due to the legal issue I feel unwilling to discuss the use of marijuana with him. As I stated before, I feel that my regular use of marijuana has helped me live a relatively normal life with what can be a debilitating disorder.  Unfortunately, as I’ve grown older, the laws have not changed and now with the addition of forfeiture laws, I risk more than the loss of my personal freedom;  if I were to grow my own supply(thereby eliminating any risk of adulteration and ending my contribution to an untaxed, unregulated bootleg economy) I would be risking my family’s home and security.  All logic tells me that I should not be using it, but I know it works.  The really shameful part of this relationship is that my government is deliberately lying in the effort to continue this prohibition.  Take a look at the DEA’s web site and read what they have to say about marijuana and then spend a few minutes reading the IOM report commissioned to look at potential for medical use of marijuana and try to understand for yourself why this lying continues.  The fact is that marijuana is less harmful than tobacco, alcohol, and most modern medicines.  If it weren’t for the fear of criminal prosecution, I would never have sought medical attention and would be able to regulate my own supply and dosage.  If it weren’t for the fear of criminal prosecution, I would love to be able to run for political office and try to change this injustice.

mrjerky – from: http://www.ocdhelp.org/faq2.html "Is marijuana a good treatment for OCD? Although marijuana is now legal in California for medicinal purposes, it is not a good treatment for OCD. It may provide some short term relief, but it causes symptoms to later worsen. Marijuana can also interfere with OCD medications and make depression more severe."
