OT: 'how does this newsgroup work?' question.
Question:
Thanks a bunch Simon! I just dialed up using an alternative IPS and looked up this newsgroup. I’ve been missing quite a few posts recently. I think you are right … maybe something’s going on with my other ISP. I’ll stick with this one for a while … even though they’re slower. Thanks for responding

Hi there ‘The Giotto Lady’, Yep I did that too … and it confirmed my suspicions. I’ve been receiving about only half of the post in the last couple of days … I was kinda wondering?!?! I was beginning to think that Thanksgiving for all you Americains was one big hoopla and you were all sipping scotch and passed out under the dinner table
… not like that come from my own personal experience or anything … GiottoLady wrote: > It sounds like your ISP to me. I’ve tried a few and reliable service on all of > them seems to wax and wane. Hey CanadaMan, I’m pretty sure it was the other ISP. If I look up the newsgroup using it I still don’t get all the posts but using my other ISP (I have a a couple of different accounts) I see everything … I hope. For a news reader I just use the one that comes with Netscape or rather ‘Communicator’ – Collabra? CanadaMan wrote: > ..It also depends on which news reader you are using. ..It also depends on which news reader you are using. Sometimes I have to select "reload old articles" to get 2 day old posts, and sometimes not. I use NewsXpress. How about everyone else??? CanadaMan

All I can tell you is that this almost never happens to me – it isn’t ‘just something that happens’. I never get the response before the original post, whatever distance they are having to travel. The ‘newsfeed’ somehow arranges it so it doesn’t happen. And missing posts are inexcusable! Or maybe my provider is unusually reliable. It certainly sounds like your internet provider to me, if it’s them who are providing your news (from your header it looks as if it is). So you have very good reason to enquire with them IMHO. — Simon —

Ok this is not related to OCD but it is related to newsgroups. Does anyone know how these newsgroups work? I get the ‘general’ idea but lately I think I am not getting all the posts. I get some response to a post but not the orignal post or it shows up the next day. Is this my internet provider or just something that happens … Does anyone know? If so could you explain it to me … but ‘dumb it down’ a little – techno-talk goes right over my head. Thanks — Monkey mon…@gilligansisland.net (to email me remove ‘gilligans’)
