What kind of doc. to see?
Question:
Nancy: I disagree with Seth. There are good and bad physicians in every specialty. The group of Drs. I recommended at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center are neurologists, and you can’t find better, more compassionate, more knowledgeble physicians treating TS patients. Gary Marmer
Response:
Gary~ Thanks again for the information…just one more question. If you also suspect you have OCD…would you see the same doctor for both OCD and TS? Thanks again…I really appreciate this. :) Take care! ~Nancy~
Response:
Hello~ I am pretty new here…after reading a ton of material on TS, I am sure I have it..and OCD for that matter. Can anyone tell me the type of doctor people with TS usually see? I have seen people mention neurologists and psychologists..which one is better? Also…if there is anyone in the Chicagoland area (specifically the north suburbs) who could recommend a knowledgeable doctor, please post here or Email me at gb…@aol.com. Thanks a lot…Take care, everyone
~Nancy~
Response:
Nancy: Dr. Christopher Goetz and Dr. Harold Klawans at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago are not only involved in treating TS patients, but are also involved in TS research. They and their group are probably the most knowledgeable in the Chicago area. You can’t go wrong if you see them. Gary Marmer

Neither. I’d suggest a psychiatrist. Theoretically, a neurologist should be the most qualified to treat TS and OCD, but in my experience with 4 different neurologists, none of them really understood TS and all the implications. On the other hand, I’ve had interactions with 4 different psychiatrists, and each one of them was reasonably knowledgeable about TS and related disorders. — Seth Jackson Seth Jackson’s Songwriting Page: http://www.cinenet.net/users/speaker The Online Home of "Country Notes" for the Los Angeles area
