Nothing wrong with look at it from many different angles, it’s just that it’s too much for some people. I also agree that it’s important to talk about what happened in the sense of the disaster itself and what we’re gonna do about it. Nostradamus isn’t on the list IMHO
Besides, don’t people cry Nostradamus for just about every single earthquake or Dow Jones drop nowadays? I don’t think Nosty could have written THAT many quattrianes! Or have been 100% right about absolutely all of them! This is why I don’t support this stuff- humans screw up, it’s our nature. And prophecies/conspiracies screw with my head. It’s too easy to get caught up in it and absolute hell to get out of. If you know it’s gonna hurt than stay away from it. I only did it this once because my brain/OCD was quiet about it for once. It’s good fiction reading tho. ;-D Sometimes…but not often (for me anyway). You could probably write a killer sci-fi novel off of it. Anyway I’m rambling again. I’ll shut up now. -Heron I’m not a doctor, just a fellow patient. Spiritus? It’s not really just a fake. It’s a sort of make believe real fake. I remember reading once , years ago now, about how Nostrodamuses writings spanned too much time to all be from the same man so he apparently had help in his writings. And just to further confuse things there was also an awful lot said about the difficulties and various means of translating the writings. There were several ways shown of different ways of translating the same writing. And the various translations could be quite distinct from each other in meaning. But the culmination of the author’s ruminations was that it’s all too vague to put any stock in it. oh cool!.. i’ve been reading bits and pieces for a while, still haven’t motivated myself to even decide to read it all hehe.. i don’t really remember if i ever read it when i was a kid even! maybe.. not sure. i’d seen one of the movies, the (disney?) cartoon one.. i liked that. but i’ve seen some of the others.. some of one just recently.. and thought they were "saggy" > >> ROTFLMHO!!!! > >what’s the H for? heini or something? means ass? > Head. > >i used to have ":( I may be lying to you :)" as a signature. > Sounds like a great sig for Gregory!

I have do doubt that vailid and true prophets still exists. It’s just that when so many of their stuff is so vague and open to interpretation…I ignore that bit. Too vague. Oh yes! I’m a lifelong fan of Alice (both books). I get so damn peeved whenever Hollywood does a movie on Alice tho because they always mix the 2 books together and almost never make a true distiction between them. I think people always try to look for answers and they look for them anyplace they can find it. Some will even make up stuff to feel secure. Me I’m already secure, I’m a Christian. But I’m not knocking anybody here, what works for some works for others and not everyone will agree on everything. As for Nostradamus- he’s dead. 8<—– SNIP I’ve had this argument already in other newsgroups since many of these things have been flying around IRC, Usenet, BBS, and the internet forums since just hours after the incident. For the last time, I’ll try to explain the origins of these quatrains so that you can put them into context: "In the year of the new century and nine months…" I have no idea exactly where this comes from, it is also quoted completely out of context. The genuine quatrain was originally published in 1568 in the book "Benoist Rigaud" (Lyon). A google search for this should leave you with many sources of verification. These quatrains were not reproduced until 1990 in Erika Cheetham’s book (which I happen to have on my desk, only my copy is the 1993 publication) "The Final Prophecies of Nostradamus." In this book there is an accurate reproduction of the original french publication and an english translation. Here’s how it should go: VI. XCVII "The sky will burn at forty-five degrees. Fire approaches the great new city. Immediately a huge scattered flame leaps up when they wait to have proof of the normans." Erika Cheetham notes that "New York city lies between forty and forty-five degrees parallel in the USA" and "It appears that the attack on the city is widespread… It is certainly a futuristic quatrain" The other one: "Two twin brothers torn apart by Chaos, while the fortress falls, the great will succumb" This has been going around like crazy and has transformed itself now. It’s kinda like chinese whispers I guess. It started out being quoted as: "In the City of God there will be a great thunder, Two brothers torn apart by Chaos, while the fortress endures, the great leader will succumb. The third big war will begin when the big city is burning" – Nostradamus 1654 You’ve probably heard loads of myths about where this crap came from. In fact "both the Google and Lycos search sites report that Nostradamus was among Tuesday’s top 10 searches related to the attack." (from http://www.usatoday.com/life/cyber/tech/2001/09/13/ebrief.htm) The most plausable theory I’ve seen is the one that suggests that it was taken from a students thesis on prophecy. It is widely romoured that these quotes were spammed by email within an hour of the attack on New York. In fact, there were even more than the one’s quoted here! A good report is to be found at: http://www.msnbc.com/news/628417.asp?0si=-#BODY Hope this helps, Mr X.

heard of the "Bible Code"? they put in words to describe major events, and it finds them with this pattern that they found with the letters and it will come up with the word and the surrounding words or something. i donno how.. but say they typed in "John F. Kennedy" and it would come up with that name and then the words "assasinated" "oswald" "texas" and whatever. it works on almost every major even in history they say.. even tried it and it predicted the future. they put in the name of this leader of some country or whatever, and it told them where and when he’d be assasinated.. so they go and warned him, but he didn’t take it and went out anyway and was assasinated. apparently this "code" was cracked by some mathematician from israel or somewhere, not sure – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -Vicky and Tony wrote: > Nostradamus can be used to explain anything that happens. yea. sometimes… but that was just too close, and i’ve seen too many too closes. and i think there is some validity to prophecy. some.. that’s the problem it can never be all valid. like astrology it’s an on going study.. you never have enough info. but if that was correct, i think i would have looked more seriously at Nostradamus’s words! > >> It’s good fiction reading tho. ;-D Sometimes…but not often (for me > >> anyway). yeah. that is weird… and it drains energy too heh but yeah it’s like a physical pain i think. well i donno if we are talking about the same thing… but it’s like something in the brain just tenses up, in my head.. > Well at least I read something…
hmm.. yeah.. i’d like to.. i have actually read a book.. called "The Moonstone" by Wilkie Collins, came out in 1868. pretty good. one of the first ever "detective stories"! it actually says first, then i read also that there was another.. not sure. it’s all written as if from all these characters perspectives.. i’d like to finish reading.. well start reading (only read the first book and a bit before years and years ago).. the lord of the rings set.. but atm i am thinking to read "Alice in Wonderland"
and "Alice through the looking glass" i just found this book with them both in it that i owned when i was a child. gotta read it! donno if i will, but that might be awsome.. haha > >> Anyway I’m rambling again. might be an idea, and i might steal it! nah i donno heh… i used to have ":( I may be lying to you :)" as a signature. guess that could be "I may be telling you the truth" also? hehe but i’ve got a signature atm! i was looking at your signature and decided to make a lyrical changing one. i’ll change it depending on whatever > >jk, we’re not all ramble i’m sure > I know. there it is! Matchbox 20’s song "Busted" (referring to who i wonder) predicted all of this and i’m looking to the words of a dead man. i like some matchbox.. i think.. can’t remember atm! but my mum loves them :) so i was looking at your signature here and i heard the lyrics i put in my sig > -Heron > I’m not a doctor, just a fellow patient. That’s the whole point. When you think about the sheer volume, you end up with coincidences or the "infinite monkeys will end up typing the dictionary". >> It’s good fiction reading tho. ;-D Sometimes…but not often (for me >> anyway). "atm"? I don’t hate fiction. It would just be really funny if someone opened a book of Nost. and then wrote out a novel which followed the whole damn thing to the "T". >well i haven’t read a book from beginning to end since i got all fucked-up

That one is a FAKE. Every single argument I’ve seen over at the Nostradameus ng says it is a fake. Some guy wrote it a few years back to prove how easy it is to fake a Nostradamus quatraine or at least show how they were put together in the literary sense. They keep alluding to real Nostradamus databases which do not have this one in it. It’s FAKE. >> "In the year of the new century and nine months, From the sky will come a >> great King of Terror… The sky will burn at forty-five degrees. Fire >> approaches the great new city…"
They’re rejecting this one over there too. They claim they’ve already connected to something else a long time ago. Plus the first circulations of it put the month as the seventh month and they’re debating over that cuz the SEPT in September means "seven" in French. I should point out I don’t believe in or support this kind of stuff and I getting a crash course on it by reading that newsgroup. But from what I gether, most of the people who *are* there and *do* believe it, for the most part, they believe these 2 quatraines do NOT apply. Want more? Go look at alt.prophecies.nostradamus In the meantime- nobody panic. If the world was supposed to end on 911, then why the hell are we still here? Think about it. Besides, only God the Father knows when the end of the world is gonna be, and He ain’t telling us. Which means anything we come up with is gonna be WRONG! To put these ‘prophesies’ into perspective, here’s a post I read on ‘alt.security.terrorism’ that I thought highlights very well how hokey ‘prophesies’ can be: " *** Beginning of thread (‘Nostradamus’): "Higil Finkey" <jp007a7…@blueyonder.co.uk> wrote in message
news:P7Jn7.8564$HS4.991632@news1.cableinet.net… > "In the city of York there will be a great collapse, two twin brothers, > torn apart by chaos, while the fortress falls, the great leader will > succumb, the third big war will begin when the big city is burning." > Nostrodamus
*** A reply by "Steve": I kind of linked it to mother hubbard and the following cryptic event….quite eerie. Humpty dumpty (the twin towers…note how most people name twins with rhyming names) sat on a wall (located on wall street) Humpty dumpty had a great fall (note they are down) all the kings (president bush, he is a leader like a king) horses and all the kings men can’t put humpty dumpty together again (pretty self explanitory) Eerie isn’t it! We are part of the MHPO (mother hubbard prophetic organization), we have been finding strong correlations in the cryptic words of mother, and linking them to major world events. Needless to say hubbard has over a 99% success rate." — monkey Cogito eggo sum: I think therefore I am a waffle.

For that matter, Nostradamus died in the 1500 so it must have been tough for him to make predictions in 1654.
