yesterday
Question:
A little grandmother confronted the man (Brian), and he pulled out a hunting knife and stabbed her to death. If only he had told me sooner, I could have stopped this murder of a very sweet grandmother, and spared Brian from the hell he will be facing for the rest of his life now Far be it for me to rain on your parade, but I’m curious about something. If he was naked and holding a baseball bat, where’d he pull the hunting knife from? (One hates to imagine…)
He had the knife in his other hand. You have hurt my feelings and angered me with your flippant remark. I still see the old lady’s blood running thru the parking lot, and now I have lost a friendship too, because Chad didn’t go check on the situation as he promised me. Why did you focus on the fact that he was naked and speculate where the knife was? Why joke about this tragedy which has hurt me and my community? This is not a parade, its a very, very sad tragedy.

I was curious. If you are as upset about this as you claim to be, don’t you think Chad is upset too? Why on earth would you abandon your friend? Why joke about this tragedy which has hurt me and my community? This is not a parade, its a very, very sad tragedy.
Then perhaps you can go comfort Chad.

- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Yesterday my friend Chad was over. I decided we needed a break from ping-pong, as I hadn’t had lunch. So I made us both a cheese burger, and we ate in the livingroom. After that, we were sitting there talking, when he told me about his friend Brian that he wanted me to meet. He had already told Brian that he wanted him to meet me, as I am very helpful with people that have psychiatric problems. So as Chad began to describe his friend Brian to me, I began to get rather concerned. He told me Brian had mentioned yesterday that he was ‘no longer Brian’, but he was now…"God". (uh oh!) Then I began to ask some serious questions. Next Chad rattled off all the items that Brian had given him, which were numerous and valuable. Brian also poured a half gallon of liquor in the sink, and flushed a bag of weed down the toilet. I immediately asked Chad if Brian said anything about killing himself. He answered, "Yeah Man! He said he was going to kill himself too!" I jumped up, "God God Chad, why didn’t you tell me about this earlier! Go call him right now!" And he did. And no one answered. It was 4:08 pm.(3/21) So I said, "Dude, you need to go ride by his house and check on him right now." He said ok, and left. But Chad didn’t go check on Brian. See, Chad has brain damage and is ocd, and he went straight home. Today on the news, it was on every station. A young man, naked, was beating on cars in the parking lot of his apartment complex with a baseball bat. The elderly neighbors all ran away and locked their doors except for one. A little grandmother confronted the man (Brian), and he pulled out a hunting knife and stabbed her to death. Police took him into custody, and he was so violently psychotic, that neither the county detention center, or the local mental hospital will take him. Brian is schizophrenic, and had misplaced his pills several days ago. I think he is also bipolar. Today I was on the phone with a lady from the mental health center. I told her it was beyond irresponsible that they hadn’t bother to file the paperwork to get me my Neurontin. I pointed out what had happened yesterday, and we had a long discussion about getting my meds, as well as the news media’s portrayal of the mentally ill as monsters. I gave her my most articulate words to combat the stereotype the news paints us as. This was at 4:45 today. At 6:05 the woman I was talking to on the phone was giving an interview on the evening news concerning what had happened yesterday. I could hear our conversation in her voice. Strange connection again. I didn’t know she was giving a televised interview. So strange how this has touched my life. Chad told me that Brian had raised a Sumari Sword towards him and asked him, " You want to kill me don’t you?" Chad said, "No man, I’m your friend, you don’t have to raise a sword at me." If only he had told me sooner, I could have stopped this murder of a very sweet grandmother, and spared Brian from the hell he will be facing for the rest of his life now. I can still hear my words from yesterday.(before Chad described Brian’s psychotic behavior) I told him, "Take me to meet Brian, I know how to make him feel comfortable and at ease. I’d be glad to be his friend." If only.
