Zyprexa WEight Gain and OCD
Question:
I gained weight on zyprexa pdoc has now changed me to serquel and changed me from neurotin to topamax which is supposed to lessened your appeite.Zyprexa gave me a huge appeite.I am glad I am off it .Hope you are having a good day. Still Bipolar Susan

Last year, zyprexa was added to my combination of Topamax and Zoloft. It really stabilized my moods and the mental confusion. Unfortunately, I gained 65 pounds in the year and developed OCD. Anyone out there battling these problems. Any advice? Thanks, Tessie

I had the same problem.It stabilized me but I not only gained weight but developed facial tics that I had as a kid 30 years ago.My pdoc said he had another patient get bad OCD and that it bothered him. the mental confusion. Ask your doctor what he/she thinks of the newer atypical antipsychotics like Seroquel. Most people don’t gain much if any weight on it, and a lot of people lose weight that other drugs put on them. The problem is, all APs tend to cause OCD. The standard treatment for OCD is an AD like Prozac…but Prozac can mess you up worse than OCD. Ah, the fun of psychopharmacology! Stress reduction helps me out a lot, and not just with the OCD.
