I am in a pen pal group for anxiety/panic disorders and one of the women said she had worked full time for 20 years and had to leave for 18 months due to anxiety and received social security disability during that time. She eventually (with meds and CBT) got to the point where she was volunteering, then working part time, and finally full time, plus is also heading 2 support groups during the week for anxiety. She is the one who informed me that A/PD and depression, I believe is considered a disability as far as social security is concerned. I, myself, filed for it in December and this Monday a psychologist is coming to my house for a psychological evaluation to determine if I will be able to receive it. I am REALLY hoping that they will approve it for me, even if temporarily until I can get myself adjusted to being able to work full time again. Wish me luck – I am definately going to need it Monday morning – am trying not to think about this man asking me a ton of questions like "how do you function around the house"??, etc. Laura

I am on Social Security Disability. My diagnosis was Major Depression & Panic Attack Disorder with Agoraphobia. I don’t know if PAD is a criteria by itself. It was not an easy process, I was turned down the first time. It took over a year to get on, with the help of a wonderful team of PDoc, Psych Nurse, and Therapist. Finally had a Major PA in front of the liaison who was supposed to help me get on S.S. It was quite dramatic. Complete with de-realization, extreme sensitized hearing, my obvious loss of reality. It was unpleasant, but still got a good laugh out of it, the next day. LOL It got me the financial help I needed. Kiesha
