Question:
Thanks Xan for the info on the milk thistle and teas. I probably wont try them because i dont abuse laxatives or anything. but the info is nice to know in case i ever need something like that! do you frequent health food stores a lot? shelley
Response:
Shelley, sorry it took me so long to get back to you on this. Different combinations of herbs do different things for the system. I think there are some that could help you a lot. Milk thistle should be really helpful for people who have messed up their kidneys with laxatives. Basically, they help to cleanse the blood or lymph of toxins, many of which begin to flood out of the cells and make you feel real sick just when you start to do something right to take care of yourself. I’m mostly going on a friend’s experience, one who has serious chemical sensitivity, and has had to figure out all kinds of ways to help his body to get rid of stuff when he has been exposed. He also drinks a *lot* of water with vitamin C mixed in it. That’s his first aid, as it were. In Europe, milk thistle is given to people who have eaten toxic mushrooms, and the survival rate with this treatment is vastly greater than anything we do with chemical treatments and kidney replacements here in the US. Read the labels on the tea boxes to see if they have any effects that you don’t want, like diuretic. None of them should adversely affect your electrolyte balance unless you drank gallons, which would be true of any fluid. Good luck! Let me know what you find works for you. love xan and Xan, what do these detox teas do? i have serious medical yucko problems when i quit binging. it is like drug detox. think it could help me? does it cause any problems with electrolytes? like, they arent diuretics or anything or they? i dont wantanything that will make me dehydrated. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – and what is milk thistle? shelley

in native americans (i’m like half), that caffeine can cause cysts. Well I was getting these cysts on my chest, and under my arms. You know, felt like pre-hodgkins lymphoma (sp?). I cut the caffeine,
Mark, that is scary to hear. i used to be a serious caffeine addict and my grandfather died of nonhodgkins. ohhh. you say in native americans it can cause these cysts, what about caucasians? and Xan, what do these detox teas do? i have serious medical yucko problems when i quit binging. it is like drug detox. think it could help me? does it cause any problems with electrolytes? like, they arent diuretics or anything or they? i dont wantanything that will make me dehydrated. and what is milk thistle? shelley

I used to drink a lot of caffeine. But I found out that in native americans (i’m like half), that caffeine can cause cysts. Well I was getting these cysts on my chest, and under my arms. You know, felt like pre-hodgkins lymphoma (sp?). I cut the caffeine, and they went away, and haven’t had any since. I avoid caffeine like the plague now. I think that it’s improved my mood as well. -mark
Response:
Laurie, this could have something to do with your deep mood crashes! Caffeine does baaad things to your kidneys, too. Do you find you are prone to bladder irritation or infections? I used to drink coffee by the quart, literally, and I got bladder irritations about every other day! Finally I was told about the effect of coffee on the kidneys. Quit carefully to avoid the crash and bad headaches while drinking a lot of other liquids, and take a lot of vit. C. Maybe find a Detox Tea in a health food store to help get rid of the poisons, too. Milk thistle is very good for cleansing and supporting the kidneys. Take care. Glad to see you coming back to life! Stay strong! love xan

owee laurie! 4 pots of coffee a day? well, i thought i was an addict, cause i worked in a coffee shop where i could drink all the free coffee i wanted. but after i got fired, i thought i would have serious caffeine withdrawal. nope. now i only drink about 2 cups a day. some day ss like today i only had 2 cups of tea. ssoooooooooo shelley
Response:
Great movie! But you mst cut down on the caffeine! I used to drink diet soda all day. But the caffeine makes my heart beat irregular, so now I can only drink one diet soda a day. I do drink decaffeinated. How about trying that?
Response:
Holy cow Laurie…I don’t know what the cutoff point is, but 4 pots a day can’t be good for you. That much can surely wreak havoc on your moods and stability. Caffeine cycles through your system and inevitably leads to a ‘crash" after the stimulant effect wears off. I am a huge coffee lover too and people make fun of me or how much I drink but I had to cut back. I was having panic attacks last year and my shrink told me to cut back on caffeine and cut ut Nutra Sweet altogether because people w/ nervous personalities are more susceptible to panic attacks if they use these. It helped tremendously. Could you consider cutting back at least just a little? (BTW Dirty Dancing is one of my favs. too!
love and peace, melissa
