Buying Pills Online – Need Advice
Question:
Hey everyone, Well I don’t have any insurance, but I would like to take the pill approach for my constant panic attacks. I cannot afford a doctors visit + prescriptions, so I have seen websites that offer like a free consultation and will give you a prescription if you buy their greatly reduced priced pills. Also, I get panic attacks when I go out and wait places, so going to the docs office is also pretty nervewracking even with insurance. Anyway, that online offer pretty much sounds like a scam so thats why I am posting here. What is the deal with that? Is it legit? If those places are legit, can someone recommend a website where I could get the cheapest medication possible? Thank you!!

You don’t say where you are. Each country has its own laws regarding importing meds, and that’s usually what’s going on here. My understanding is you can get pretty much anything in Mexico, but you may not know exactly what you are getting. You can get meds from Canada, which I’m told is pretty safe, but in most cases you need a script, and then a Canadian MD rewrites the script. Of course, the US is trying to stop this, as we pay the highest prices anywhere for meds, and the industry would like to keep it that way.
IMHO, the biggest problem you have right now is you have no idea what to take or how much. It’s probably worth the money to get a diagnosis, some recommendations with regards to meds, and then take it from there. Obviously, a "good" doctor can make recommendations, but can’t force you take anything. And often, finding the right med is a hit and miss thing. Some meds that make one person better will make another worse — for the same diagnosis, and that’s the risk you face when self medicating, even if you find a good source. I’m looking forward to what others have to say, and what their experience has been. — Sheldon

I can’t tell you anything about the online med thing, but I do know that there is a big difference in drug prices across the regular pharmacies. For example, Rite Aid, and a few grocery store pharmacies in my area sell generic fluoxetine (Prozac) for like $130.00 for a 60 count bottle of 10 mg tablets. That same bottle costs around $30.00 at Walmart and at Target. I swear. Same drug, same thing for 4 times less the cost. Drugstore.com is also cheap but I don’t know if you need a prescription from a doc or not. My point is, if you get meds, you can get them at Walmart or Target or call around to see if there is another place in your area where you can get them for a good price. It was in this newsgroup where I learned that prozac is cheap at Walmart and Target. Had I not learned this, I wouldn’t have started taking the prozac. I know that there is now generic fluoxetine and I think that Paxil now has a generic. I’m not sure about the costs of other drugs right now.

Go to www.drugbuyers.com where people discuss and rate the online pharmacies, many of which are very good. I use access-meds.com who are cheap and deliver to the UK from South Africa in 10 days. I don`t think they`re allowed to distribute to the US though….America`s laws are much stricter than anywhere else. There are many "US only" one`s though. I`d stear clear of Mexico if I were you….with most of them you`ll never see your money again. Mart
