Effexor SR Fog
Question:
– Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Last night I started adding Effexor SR 37.5 mg to my pill stew. This morning I’m in a mental fog and feel physically lazy. I was wondering if anyone else has had similar responses to Effexor, and did they go away over time? Thanks Stuck I was exhausted all of the time and in a mental fog. I slept 10 hours every night and took a two or three hour nap every afternoon. I complained to my pdoc, and she kept increasing the dosage. I’m not sure if it was the increased dosage, or just time, but it was *several* weeks before I felt human. I’m up to 300 mg of Effexor XR per day. Just recently she added 150mg of Wellbutrin SR to the mix. Now I don’t nap, and I sleep about 8 hours per night. During the day I’m ok, after a couple of cups of coffee. Good luck. Deb
And it must be working. I just scored a 24 on the Goldberg depression test. I usually score in the 70s somewhere. Deb

I think Effexor SR has affected my energy level. I seem to need more sleep – even if I sleep 8 or 9 hours a night I still feel nappy the next afternoon. After 2 months on Effexor and about a month on 150mg sometimes I still feel a little muddled or not quite with it. It’s all fairly subtle, though, so I’m still not sure if it’s the Effexor causing these things or the depression or my something else. Kelly Everything that is is holy.

Hi Stuck, The symptoms I recall of Effexor (4 months ago?, hard to recall) were increased appetite, tiredness, emotional numbness. I needed distraction like watching videos constantly. But nothing emotional turned me on, I felt dead. Mind wouldn’t stop. And annoying ‘buzzing’ in the nerves of my knees and lower legs. Sexual dysfunction – difficulty with arousal, almost impossible to climax. All of these went away fairly quickly after stopping Effexor. But replaced with constant panic attacks and shaking. This may be due to going cold turkey but maybe not. The panic attacks stopped after an intense somatic therapy session. I kid you not! I was on about 225 mg/day Effexor when I quit. But I’m not 100% sure – my memory of that time is shot to pieces. Hope this info is of some use, All the best, Brother John
