Hurt feelings at Christmas night E.R visit(LONG)
Question:
- Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – Hi everyone, i have been having these strange symptoms the past few days and last night right after Christmas dinner it got really bad.It feels like there’s this intense pressure on my diaphram, it’s hard to breathe, indigestion BAD(I’ve never had indigestion like this, not even while pregnant)Anyway, it got so painful and the pressure got so bad, we went on in to the E.R, well, i felt like right after i told them i was on Effexor, and the doc asked me who my primary doc was and i said i didn’t have one yet, he said "Who prescribed the Effexor?"…i told him my Pdoc,he said ok…….asks a bit more, next thing i know the nurse is bringing me 2 XANAX! It made me sooooooo mad! I told her(nicely) that i know when it’s a PA and right now i’m in pain not having a PA, but she said the lightheadedness was probably from hyperventilating from stress.(Which is possible)So, took the Xanax, had a chest x-ray, etc…needless to say, it’s most likey my Gallbladder, and i’ll se a doc on Monday, but, i just felt almost discriminated again st, like oh yeah, a "headcase" therefore nothing could be "Physically wrong" with her, drug her up, and send her home, i mean i lithad to MAKE him listen and believe me……I’m sorry if this was so long…thanks for listening, it just scares me, what if i’m in the middle of some serious medical attack or something and they think because i take an anti-dep that all i need is Valium? I’t got me thinking, you know? *"Never look down on a person, unless you’re helping them up"* *Sharyn*
I can imagine you felt that you were not taken seriously and I agree that this sort of thing should be looked into from a medical point of view. That doesn’t mean it *has to* be unrelated to your PD. You may have a *hiatal hernia* which occurs sometimes along with PD, also it could be CCK at work, providing more bile than your body can handle causing pain and reflux. In that case a Xanax wouldn’t be such a bad idea as it inhibits CCK. But I am not a doctor (let’s hope the doctor is one
) I *am* amazed how many differing symptoms can be related to PD, however. In your case it may well be something else but let’s hope it isn’t….(this is the award winning *doctor- and hospital-phobic* in me speking). Please keep us posted. Philip – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text –

(((Sharyn))), How it must hurt to have your fears dismissed so easily by the doctor-it makes you want to hide your anxiety disorder for fear that people will pre-judge you. Hope your pain is gone today. Good luck with the gall bladder check. Charley
