Jackie……Talk to me

Question:

Philip Hi again, you checking up on me? I love it. I have been on celexa for about 40 days.

which is a bit too short to properly evaluate its effects and I remember you already did well on it. The other med is Asendin (amoxapine) he says its for the COD.

Amoxapine is a weird choice as I think I said earlier and I also read that the Mighty Margrove agreed <g Don’t take it. Anyway TCA’s are not any better for OCD than SSRI’s are. But if it has to be a TCA I would suggest Anafranil (clomipramine). IMO & YMMV. I am afriad to start it because of the side effects. I really have no choice if I want to get better.

Yes, you do. First of all there are better meds than amoxepine and then there is *Cognitive Behavioural Therapy*. I have been threw every test, and the only test I had a problem with is the tilt table. Its a test that checks for blood pressure drops. If you pass out during the test, then your suppose to be on meds for blood pressure,Yes I passed out, only because I had a panic attack and couldn’t breath. I took another test a few months before that one and I was ok. So, I guess panic attacks effect people in different ways huh?

Intelesting, intelesting…never heard of this test. It seems I only get this blurred, double vision faint feeling when I am doing something that makes me real unconfortable. I was always off balance until the Celexa. I thought I was doing so well, now this again. Life goes on and I plan on going on with it

Of course, there is no other choice but in the process you can take charge of it and stick with the Celexa, *not* add anything and maybe try CBT. This is the second time you told us that Celexa works so well. Why fix something that isn’t broken? I mean a sentence like *I thought I was doing so well* implies that you seem to entertain the notion that your doctor knows better than you how you feel which is nonsense because *you* are the only one who really knows what *you* feel and when you feel you’re doping well and don’t want to change anything about your medication that should be the bottom line. Keep in touch Kim

Hi Jackie,  you responded to my post and  you thought it to be anxiety. Do you get this disorientated and double blurry vision? I thought it may be some kind of cut off circulation or something real serious. Did you go for other testing, are you sure its anxiety?  Talk to me. I am starting therepy soon. My doc wants me to add another med along with the celexa to give it another boost. Disorientation and blurry vision are very common anxiety symptoms. I thought it may be some kind of cut off circulation or something real serious. Did you go for other testing, are you sure its anxiety?  Talk to me.

Nobody can be 100% sure unless you had a physical (did you?) but what you describe are *normal* anxiety symptoms ;) ) I am starting therepy soon. My doc wants me to add another med along with the celexa to give it another boost.

What med would that be, Kim and how long have you been taking Celexa? Kim

I am pretty sure it is anxiety, although you should, just to be on the safe side ask your doctor about this. I don`t get the blurry vision, bit I do remember blinking my eyes constantly and I did get very disorientated. The disorientation was very frightening to me, I was afraid if I went out driving I would never get home again. I thought it may be some kind of cut off circulation or something real serious.

Sometimes when we are anxious we tend to overbreath ( hyperventilate) without even realizing it. When we overbreath it can cause dizziness, confusion, light-headeness and tingling sensations in our extremeties, toes, fingers and around our lips. You might benefit from learning some deep breathing exercises. You would use them the minute you felt your anxiety climbing. Did you go for other testing, are you sure its anxiety?  Talk to me.

fine. She was convinced that most of my dizziness and other anxiety symptoms were from anxiety. She did feel that some of my dizziness was from chronic my dizziness was anxiety. Once the paxil kicked in I had no dizziness but my ears still bothered me……they always bother me and I don`t get dizzy(knock on wood, or tomorrow I will be dizzy :) ) I am starting therepy soon. My doc wants me to add another med along with the celexa to give it another boost.

Good for you about the therapy. I have been on paxil for 26 months and I am doing very well. I rarely get dizzy, I can`t remember the last time I felt disorientated or confused. What dose are you on with Celexa? Good luck with the therapy and meds. Take care ;)
