Klonopin failure
Question:
For the past several weeks I have been experiencing intense anxiety and some panic attacks. I have been taking 4 mgs of Klonopin a day and it isn’t even touching the anxiety at times. Is this normal. You would figure on that kind of a dose the anxiety would dissipate or lessen to some extent. Is this unusual or am I a just not responding to the klonopin. Please advice. Julie
Response:
Hi Julie, Check with your doc before you make any changes. He may want to increase the Klonopin to 5 mg/day. I used to be on 5 mg/day (2 in AM and 3 in PM) but was able to get down to 2 mg/day about two years ago. You may have developed some tolerance to the antianxiety effects of K. or you may be experiencing an increase in stress that your current dose of 4 mg/day is not able to handle. I think it is still working, but not enough to control your current symptoms. Hi Julie, I think Klonopin isn’t the right med for you. But Xanax may be. A proper dose of Xanax should kill any PA and also help with constant high anxiety. If necessary it can be combined with an AD later. Philip
Response:
Klonopin didn’t work for me either. I’m trying a "base" of Ativan and Xanax as needed. As time I’ll ween off the Xanax. Souunds to me that Xanax, for a month or two, if the drug for your PAs. I’m no doctor though. Hope you have a good one! Tom – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – For the past several weeks I have been experiencing intense anxiety and some panic attacks. Response:
In my opinion that is a pretty big dose of klonopin so if it isn’t working you need to try something else. PETER
