Night anxiety/tips for perfect sleep…
Question:
Is there anyone else who experiences a massive increase of anxiety/panic at night? And is there anyone who can explain WHY that is?If I forget to take my buspar before it begins,I’m doomed to feelings of such intense discomfort that I cannot even begin to describe it.I feel like my worst fears will come true, that I’m falling over the edge. Some of you might say,BUSPAR!?Well,I take THREE 15mg tabs a day,in addition to effexor xr,remeron, zyprexa and risperdal. Now,I know several of those are anti-psychotics,but I’m NOT schizophrenic. In extreme cases like mine, those drugs can manage anxiety/OCD.And they also grant me wondrously untroubled sleep.I mean,if I have the time,I can sleep up to 12 uninterrupted hours. So if any of you have sleep problems, ask your doctor about those meds.I only hit on this combo I’m on now after YEARS of trying EVERY other med out there.Prozac in massively high doses helped for awhile, but you know what happened?Suddenly, inexplicably,it stopped working. It was practically overnight. That had happened to me once before, and I SO fear it’ll happen again and again. Is there anyone who knows how and why that happens?I hate being so dependent on meds. But I’ve long since thought of it in terms of it being like insulin for a diabetic, you know? Thanks for reading this,e-mail me or post a reply(I just love that…) Shandra

Buspar does absolutely nothing for panic in my opinion.
Not just yours. BuSpar was never intended to be used for panic disorder, and subsequent research has shown that it is no better than a placebo. For generalized anxiety – even very severe cases – it can work wonders, though. -elizabeth

I used to almost always have a major increase of anxiety/panic at night time. I’m not sure why, but it was always worse at night. I would sometimes wake at night soaked in sweat because of night time panic attacks. I have been panic free for over 2 years since starting Klonopin .5mg in the morning and 1mg in the evening. I am down to .5 mg in morning and eve and still panic free. I’ve tried Buspar and IMHO that med is a joke. Buspar does absolutely nothing for panic in my opinion. I haven’t talked to one person who has had good luck with Buspar for panic…. it is usually prescribed by doctors who are afraid to prescribe benzodiapines. Also get some Xanax for emergencies… Xanax .5mg will kill a panic attack in its tracks, but it wears off fast (about 6 hours max). Good Luck. rich
