Paxil: sorry, could someone tell me about it?
Question:
I heard that Paxil is going to save us all. This has probably been discussed in this group, before, but I’m new. Anyone willing to tell me about it? I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Grumwald

Well I am on Paxil and it has saved me plus lots others I have read about in this newsgroup and on ASD. I have suffered from much anxiety and depression but the Paxil has really helped me live a somewhat normal life now (in contrast to about 6 months ago when I could barely function). It is not all due to the Paxil though. I also have my therapist to thank plus a lot of supportive people, including my wonderful family and boyfriend. But Paxil is not THE miracle drug. Some people have taken it and have not felt any better at all, others found the side effects too bad to continue with the drug. Because everyone’s brain chemistry is different, each individual needs to find the drug that he/she can tolerate and which works best for them. You do not say anything about your situation. Because you are posting here, I can only assume you have some familiarity with anxiety and panic attacks and you are seeking help. How about going to a local health professional to see if medication and/or therapy is warranted? nina in AL

I have been a lurker in this group for a very short time. I am in law enforcement and have had some very serious anxiety problems. To the point that it threatened to end my marriage and my career. I had tried Zoloft in the past and got a little help although I did not feel the effects were worth the effort. I went off of it for a while. recently I started a prescription of Paxil. I am very pleased with the results. My wife says it’s nice to have me "normal" again. I do have my moments of anxiety but they don’t take hold of me. The feeling of rush I have associated with these attacks are very short lived and not nearly as severe. I am not a proponent of Paxil. This is my experience with it. I have not the experience to proclaim it will save anybody/. All I can offer is my own story…
