Paxil/weight gain

I’ve been on paxil for on ly two weeks, and I’ve gained about 5 pounds. It’s kinda good though, I was losing quite a bit of weight before the treatment started. So, two weeks paxil=5 lbs. bodyweight? Yeah, I’d say that ssri’s do assist weight gain…. Peace. Harold

SSRI’s do cause weight GAIN in some people, and give them to my doc. Ok – I’m new – will someone define SSRI for me??

I have tried pretty much all the AD’s and found that I gained weight on all. Like your doc, my doc said it was not the meds. I gained about 50 lbs, after being skinny all my life, so I knew it was. He tried Pondimin with me, but it did not work. Finally, I lowered my Zoloft to the lowest it could be and lost some weight..thought not all… I still have about 30 to lose. Anyway, my question for toay is…..how many people out there GAIN weight while on Paxil. I have gained approx. 25 lbs. in the last year and a half. Approx 5 lbs. on Prozac, and 20 on Paxil. Of course my doc says it’s not related to the med. He has now put me on Pondimin….we’ll see. Hope to hear from some of you. I’ll be posting/replying here often I hope.
