Question:

I started taking 62.5 last night.I chickened out taking 75mgs.I was afraid so better to do it slow, but i’m getting up there. I had a better day today. Thanks to the people who responded to my post.I was having a very stressful week. I guess I still am. I’ve been taking tylenol pm at night to sleep.Anyone ever try it? Hopefully its safe with the zoloft? Its been working and I really do need the sleep.. I hope everyone is well and has a nice Holiday weekend!!!!!                             Randee

Randee, upping the dose at a level you are comfortable with is better than trying to rush things. And tylenol is okay in combination with Zoloft. In fact there are very few other medications that you cannot combine with the non MAOI ADs. Hang in there kiddo, the worst is behind you Ian

Response:

I am glad to hear your doing a bit better.  Yes I have taken the tylenol PM myself and I take Xanax and Prozac so I think your safe as long as you take it as directed.  One thing to think about though.  Unless you have a headache you dont really need tylenol.  tylenol PM has Benadryl in it that is what makes you sleep.  You can by just benadryl and it works just as good and your not taking medicine for pain.  Something to think about.  Good luck to you. I was taking Zoloft prescribed by my doctor and a pdoc at a dose of 25mgs for about 2 months. I had few panic attacks. Then he raised it to 50mgs where I stayed on for about 2 months, and I barely had panic attacks, not to mention that my mood lifted. Now I started going to a pdoc that says it was impossible to go from having panic attacks every day to not having them at doses of 25 and 50 mgs. He says the therapeutic dose for Zoloft is 100mgs and up, which he started me on 100mgs 2 days ago(and I have no side effects except for a dull headache) What therapeutic dose are most people on this forum on?

Zoloft has a large therapeutic wondow. But the proof is in the pudding. It’s amazing what some doctors say. 25 and 50 mg of Zoloft yook your panic away and although this happened he tells you it’s impossible…. Obviously it *is* possible, it’s happening right before his eyes. Why fix something which isn’t broken although your have learnt that it *should have been* LOL. Moreover rasing the Zoloft dose by 50 mg is too fast as a rule. Maybe another pdoc? Philip

It varies from person to person.  I take 50 mg of Zoloft a day.  I cut back to 25 mg a while ago but that was not enough to keep me feeling steady.  My pdoc is perfectly fine with me at 50 mg.  One of my friends is on a regular dose of 200 mg and she is fine at that level.  I find it strange that your doctors feel one dose is right for everyone…very poor reasoning.  If you are feeling good on 50 mg, then this is the dose for you.  Your pdoc needs to go back to school….LOL! — Take care, Liz To everything there is a season …and to every season, a special beauty.

Hi Nicole, I was on Zoloft for 1 wk at 25mg then 50mg for 5 weeks, and then 100mg… my new pdoc (I was under the care of my women’s heath doctor previously) said the Zoloft wasn’t working for me and started me on celexa… Evertying is entirely individualistic. What works for you may or may not work for me.. the doctor needs to read up a little bit more about these meds .IMO. Much Love and Strength, Brooke — Smile! It makes the world wonder what you’re up to…

he is wrong everyone is highly individualistic when it comes to psychoactive medications and many many people can use so called sub-clinical doses. The range for sertraline is 50-200mg a day but sometimes a dose of 300mg a day must be used or as little as 25mg a day. LM
